What Are Whole Grains?

Bran is the outer layer of the whole grainProbiotic T-50kernel. It contains fiber, vitamin B, minerals, and proteins. The fiber component of the bran is beneficial when it comes to weight loss. Fiber is a component of food that helps our stomachs to fill up faster and stay fuller longer. Therefore, by consuming foods that contain fiber, we will eat less and thereby consume less calories. The vitamin B component of the Bran promotes energy production, a healthy nervous system, good digestion, as well as healthy skin, hair, and nails. The minerals contained within Bran help to strengthen our teeth and bones, boost our immune system, and increase our production of blood cells. Like minerals, the proteins contained within the Bran are required for the structure, function, and regulation of our bodies tissues and organs.

The Endosperm of the whole grain contains carbohydrates, protein, and vitamin B. Since the benefits of protein and vitamin B were already discussed above, let's focus on carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are food components which help our bodies to create energy. It is the Endosperm and carbohydrates that makes whole grain foods especially important for breakfast time. Eating whole grain foods during breakfast will ensure that your body is being provided with carbohydrates so that you have the energy to last throughout the day.

Last but not least is the Germ. The Germ of the whole grain contains minerals, vitamins, and phytonutrients. As mentioned above, minerals provide our body with the nutrients that it needs to strengthen our teeth and bones, boost our immune system, and increase production of blood cells. Vitamins are great for our eyesight, immune system, bones, skin, and blood cells. Finally, phytonutrients are necessary for disease prevention.

Because whole grains contain so many beneficial components, it is recommended that we eat at least three servings of whole grain foods each day. Begin searching your local supermarket for whole grain foods today and increase the health of your body, your immune system, and your appearance.
